It was interesting to read the posts about a need for Social Skills Groups (Parents and Caregivers Blog) as we have been considering the possibility of offering weekend and/or evening social skills groups, based on interest and need. We will also be offering a variety of summer camps and summer programs.
We are located in Brant County, just outside of Burford, and approximately 40 minutes from Waterloo.

Let us know your needs and we will do our best to respond!  You can contact us at 519-449-2983

My son Parry who is 11 and has autism is attending a social skills program at  D.S.A.C this week.I only wish that I had him attend when he was younger!I see there is a great need for this type of  program!

This is the type of program we are seeking for our 16 yr old daughter with Aspergers, albiet she is very high functioning she does need some help in social settings both on her own and with us. Unfortunatly we have been not very sucessful in locating assistance.... I will continue to watch this blog for updates....

Hello David,

Have you tried contacting the Front Door (Formerly Children's Mental Health Access Centre of waterloo region) 519-749-2932. Lutherwood offers a social skills group for youth ages 12 to 18 (Asperger's, PDD-NOS, NLD) The group is called ASPEN. You can find out more by calling the Front Door or checking out the LUtherwood ASPEN info found on this site.

Good luck.
