WRFN is announcing it's first ever FAMILY Conference, a conference for the whole family, a full day of fun programming for the kids and great speakers for moms and dads.
The Waterloo Region Family Network is excited to announce the opening of registration for the FAMILY Conference Saturday May 5th at Bingeman's in Kitchener. A fun filled and informative day for the whole family.

Someone asked me the other day, what was it like accessing services for your child?
My child is now 8 so it was approximately 5-6 years ago when I started the process of Accessing Service for my child. Disability Tax Credit, Special Parking Permit, Incontinence Program for Diapers, SNAP Referral, Daycare Subsidy, Developmental Services Resource Centre -DSRC (formerly DSAC) Extend-A-Family for Special Services at home. Even the intake process for our Children's Treatment Centre - KidsAbility.

Parenting a child with "special needs" is hard, it wears on me, sometimes it even wears me down. I have to tell you, in my experience I always feel supported by knowing that I am not alone. WRFN is so please to partner with K-W Counselling Services to offer Parent Discussion Groups, starting October 4th, 2011.
Parenting a child with "special needs" is hard, it wears on me, sometimes it even wears me down. I have to tell you, in my experience I always feel supported by knowing that I am not alone. Even if a family does not share my diagnosis, we know that we are sharing similar experiences.
I love getting together with other family members, the best part is not having to explain everything, you know, the lingo. If I had a nickel for everytime I have to explain, IEP, AFOs, CP, OT,PT, and for others…

I attended the AUTISM FORUM today at Bingeman's that was hosted by KidsAbility.
For me it was a very informative day and I am so very glad I attended. I really appreciated the information provided.
