Ask An Advocate

Kerry-ASC CoordinatorWaterloo Region Family Network

Do you need to look at a challenge you are facing with a new perspective? Would you like to bounce ideas off someone else who can relate to what you, or your child, is going through? Perhaps Cristina can help. As an adult with Asperger’s Syndrome who has mentoring and self-advocacy experience, Cristina would be happy to discuss your concerns and questions. While her personal experience is rooted in Autism Spectrum Disorder, she is happy to meet with anyone with special needs or exceptionalities, their families, or professional supports, to offer new insight and ideas to help you move forward.

For Canadians with disability, the anti-avoidance rule will also extended to the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP).

"Giving families of children with autism the option of either using government-funded services or receiving direct funding to pay for therapy may be part of Ontario's new autism program, the minister in charge said Monday. The Ontario Autism Program is set to start this June and Children and Youth Services Minister Michael Coteau said the implementation team is working on including a direct funding model." Excerpt from The Record. See below for full story.
