This is a list of disability-related benefits available to residents of Ontario. Some are providing income, employment supports, while some cover the costs of assistive devices.

The Waterloo Stars program for children with Autism is now available for enrollment. The emphasis is on supporting the children and their families by providing a relaxed and positive experience for each child. This 8-week program begins on November 5th and runs indoor at Bechtel Park in Waterloo on Saturdays at 5:00 PM. The cost is $20 per player. You must register online and you can pay online or at the WMS office.

KidsAbility/ Firefly is now offering behavioural programs and supports. They are offering behavioural consultations, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) group learning and Individual Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) therapy services.

In February of 2016, parents/caregivers came together with noted author, lecturer and sexuality counselor David Hingsburger for a workshop entitled “The Ring of Safety”. The result was an engaging conversation about sexuality, sexual health, romantic relationships, and how to best support adults who have a disability. Given the strong interest in continuing this conversation, Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region has invited David Hingsberger back for a morning of Q&A on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 9:30am-12:30pm at The Family Centre (located at 65 Hansen Ave. in Kitchener). Light refreshments, tea and coffee will be made available.
